Our Mission

In the fertile grounds of Pelican Gardens, we are not merely gardeners, but custodians of a vision - a vision where sustainability and community intertwine in a delicate, yet profound balance. Our mission, rooted deep in the heart of New Orleans, is more than the cultivation of produce; it is the cultivation of hope, of harmony.

We provide not just fresh, organic bounty to our neighbors but strive to be a beacon of ecological responsibility, reducing waste, nurturing the local ecosystem. Our garden is a tapestry of inclusion, where hands-on experiences forge unbreakable community bonds.

Our commitment extends beyond the nurturing of plants; we are nurturing a movement. A movement towards food security, towards a network of mutual aid, towards innovative living solutions that resonate with the rhythm of the earth. Join us in this vital endeavor, in cultivating not just a garden, but a wellspring of well-being for both people and our planet.

Our vision

At Pelican Gardens, our dream is a flourishing New Orleans, where the pulse of the community beats in harmony with the rhythm of organic gardens. Here, food security is intertwined with the roots of our plants, housing is a right as natural as the shade of a tree, and environmental respect is as essential as the air we breathe.

Our goal is to shine as a beacon of mutual aid, to be a crucible of community engagement and a sanctuary of sustainable living. We strive to kindle a spark of positive change, fanning it into a flame through hands-on education and the power of collaboration.

We invite you to join our mission, to cultivate a future where inclusivity is the soil in which our community grows, where every table is an altar of abundance, graced with the offerings of our gardens. Together, let's sow the seeds of a world where everyone has a place at the table, a world where the fruits of our labor are shared with all.
